Melvin O'Neill

Melvin Lynn O’Neill passed away at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon on September 6, 2025, at the age of 85 years. 

Melvin was born in Kirksville, Iowa on March 29, 1940, to Ambrose and Myrtle (Tradle) O’Neill. Melvin proudly served in the United States Army, in his younger years. He was later known as a hard-working dairy farmer. Melvin enjoyed the outdoors. Some of his favorite things to do in his leisure time were gardening and fishing. 

Melvin is survived by his loving children: Brian (Kim) O’Neill of Monett, Missouri, Natalie (Joe)Kidd of Granby, Missouri, and Michael (Robbin) O’Neill of Stark City, Missouri, seven grandchildren: Taylor Whittington, Tyler O'Neill, Trenton O'Neill, Jessica Howard, Heather McCain, Jodie Reynolds, and Paige Rice, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. Melvin will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. A private family service will be held at a later date.
