(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Roberta Ann (Reniker) Johnson, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior at home in Broken Arrow, OK on September 7, 2025. She was born in Joplin, MO on August 9, 1931, to Louis Burton and Maude Mae Reniker.
On June 5, 1949, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Layton Johnson of Redings Mill, MO. Their marriage spanned an extraordinary 72 years, marked by deep devotion and enduing partnership until Bill’s passing. Together, they raised four children, Carol, Susan, Ken, and Stan. Roberta was a fierce role model; a strong and dependable wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was her greatest pride and joy.
Roberta loved music and often had it playing in her home. She was very into fashion, had a bold sense of style and enjoyed wearing bright colors, patterns, and jewelry. She worked at several banks during her career from being a teller to manager.
After retiring in 1994 in Oklahoma City, Roberta and Bill moved back to his family farm in Redings Mill, MO to care for her aging mother-in-law. They planted an organic garden and sold produce from a vegetable stand. Roberta was an excellent cook and baker, making many beautiful and delicious wedding and party cakes, which were cherished by family and friends. She was a longtime member of the 26th & Connecticut Church of Christ in Joplin, Missouri, and her faith was an important part of her life.
Her family was her truest happiness, and she was deeply committed to them. Roberta will be remembered for her strength, her faith, and the love she gave to those around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Burton and Maude Mae Reniker; her siblings, Gene Reniker and William Edward (Billy Ed) Reniker; her husband, William (Bill) Johnson, her daughter, Carol Johnson Siling and her son-in-law, Stephen (Steve) Caves.
Roberta is survived by her children, Susan Caves (Broken Arrow, OK), Kenneth Johnson and wife Allie (Stillwater, OK), Stanley Johnson and wife Theresa (Rogers, AR); her grandchildren, Stacy Jones and husband Jason, Jennifer Schumacher and husband Keith, Stephen Jason Caves and wife Tammie, Anthony Caves and wife Christy, Jeffrey Phillips, Clint Phillips and wife Kerissa, Chelsea Jenkins and husband Justin, Victoria Whittaker and husband Andrew, Emily Gundler and husband Christopher, Aubrey Thompson and husband Michael, Ashley Faulk and husband William; and her 23 great-grandchildren; as well as other loving extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joplin Church of Christ in honor of Roberta.
Services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin, MO.
