Orvel Layton Egger, 86, of Little Flock, Ark., passed away Friday afternoon, October 24, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvel and Nova Dee Egger of Bentonville.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Rockwood) Egger, the love of his life for over 65 years; two sons, Barton and his wife Kim of Rogers, and Kent and his wife Susan of Carthage, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Layton and his parents moved from Mills County, Texas, to Northwest Arkansas in 1952. He and Barbara were married by Rev Melvin Coffelt December 5, 1959, and he was a member and welcoming fixture at the front door of First Baptist Church of Centerton, Ark., for over 70 years. He retired from Daisy Manufacturing in 1995 after over 37 years.
He raised Charolais cattle, but his lifelong passion was raising, training, and showing registered quarter horses in cutting horse competitions around the country. In his later years he could been seen chauffeuring family and friends around his place on his Gator.
The family wishes to express their deep love, appreciation and thanks to Circle of Life Hospice for their loving ministry to both Layton and the entire family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations and memorials be made to Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 28, at 10 a.m., located at First Baptist Church in Centerton. Service will be Tuesday, October 28, at 11 a.m., located at First Baptist Church in Centerton. A private family graveside will be after the service at Little Flock cemetery.

Layton and his family were true believers and wonderful people. The love for his craft in the horse world was deep and true. Kenton please accept my condolences as well! Dr Karen Sherman
