Mike Daniels

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Robert Michael “Mike” Daniels Sr., 82 of Anderson, Missouri passed away on October 22, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on March 21, 1943 in Long Beach, California to the late Robert and Elizabeth Marie (Kline) Daniels. He proudly served our Country in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964, returned to San Diego, California. He served the San Diego Police Force for a short time, then worked in Construction, auto repair and trucking. Mike lived in San Diego, California until moving to Goodman, Missouri in 1977.

Mike was avid car enthusiast, building numerous collector cars/trucks over the years. He also built many racing and dune buggies while in California and raced in the 1968 Baja 1000. The Baja was always remembered as a great adventure and challenge by him and his buddies. The race back then was filled with hardship, danger and sacrifice. Mike and co-driver Jerry suffered injuries in a major roller crash but managed to literally beat the car back together and go on to finish. He was an accomplished mechanic, carpenter, electrician, gun enthusiast and outdoorsman.

Mike spent the majority of his work career in long haul trucking, with much of it as an owner/operator along with his wife, Peggy. Together they drove several millions of miles as a top secret cleared hauling sensitive government loads. In later years Mike devoted a large amount of time to the American Legion Honor Guard. In that service he worked over 200 funerals honoring fellow Veterans.

Robert was a lifetime member of the Neosho Masonic Lodge #247.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Daniels of the home; son, Robert M. Daniels, Jr. (Nancy) of Joplin, Missouri; daughter, Shawna Morton (Mike) of Rogersville, Missouri; two stepsons, John Hughes (Kelly) of Fall River, Kansas and Jim Hughes (Kristi) of Fall River, Kansas.
