Phyllis Long

Phyllis Faye Long, 93, of Monett, MO passed away peacefully at Republic Nursing & Rehab on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. She had been a resident there since January.

Phyllis was born on July 5,1932, in Pierce City, MO to Rube & Faye (Hunnell) Hundley. She was a resident of Monett most of her life and met her husband, Dale Long, and they were married on December 28, 1951. Dale preceded her in death on June 7, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her other companion, Henry Robertson of Bolivar, MO.







Her greatest joys in life were her family, friends & church family. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She loved to sit and share stories from earlier years. She enjoyed bingo & embroidery. She loved to tell everyone how proud she was of each and every one of her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She answered to many names besides Mom including: Grandma, Gram, Grammy, & Nana. She was also proud that she would have a fifth generation when Blake & Alyssa’s baby, Beckham Preston Thornton arrives in January, 2026. As we all know, she’ll be looking down from Heaven.

Phyllis is survived by one sister, Sue Greene of Sugarland, TX, one sister-in-law, Bonnie Long of Maumelle, AR, two sons, Rick Long & (Donna) of Aurora, MO, Danny Long & (Barb) of Ozark, MO, one daughter, Mary Beth LaMastus & (Mickie) of Monett, MO. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Deanna Thornton & (Jamie) of Monett, MO, Kim Gallo & (Rocky) of Lee’s Summit, MO, six grandsons, Benji LaMastus of Wentworth, MO, Brad Long & (Britni) of Verona, MO, Brandon LaMastus of Aurora, MO, Jacob Fair & (Alexandra) of Orlando, FL, Isaac Long of Ozark, MO & Caleb Long & (Harriett) of Bentonville, AR. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren, Paige & Conner Gallo, Anna, Meghan, Jaidyn, Rylee & Jaxon Long, Blake & Chloe Thornton, Kailey, Harley, Jorden, Jaden & Jack LaMastus & Lila Kimbrough. Other survivors include several nieces & nephews.








Others preceding her in death were her parents, Rube & Faye Hundley, stepfather, Bill Weldon, brothers, Bob Hundley & his wife, Ann, Johnny Roberson & his wife, Shirley & brother-in-law, Al Greene & brother-in-law, Edward (Pete) Long.

She attended Orange Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Aurora, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church in her memory.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Buchanan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Buchanan Funeral Home with burial to follow at Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
