Richard Squires

Richard Clark Squires, Sr. was born on September 21, 1942, in Mercedes, Texas, to Rosemary Squires, née Snadon, and Elmer Squires, and passed away on September 30, 2025, in Joplin, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Victor A. Squires.

Richard received a BS in Business from Southwest Missouri State University in 1965, and a MS in Education from the University of Tennessee in 1977. He was a commissioned officer in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars for individual bravery in combat. He became an Airborne Ranger in 1973, serving for 26 years in the Army, converting to Warrant Officer after the Vietnam drawdown, and retiring in 1991 after Desert Storm. For 32 years until his death, he and his second wife, Tammy Squires, owned and operated Security Pawn in Webb City, Missouri. For forty years, with steady dedication he oversaw and maintained land in southwest Missouri that has been in his mother’s family since 1832, passing it on intact to his children.








Richard is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tammy Squires of Joplin, Missouri, three children, Dr. Constance Squires and Brian Johnston of Edmond, Oklahoma, Richard Squires, Jr. of Fayetteville, AR, and Amanda Squires of Pennsboro, Missouri, three step-children, David and Pam Mar of Texas, Tracy and John Clagg of Texas, Dwayne and Christine Marr of Arizona, six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A military funeral with full honors will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on October 22, 2025, at 2:00, and a memorial service will be held at the Pennsboro, Church in Dade County, Missouri on Saturday, November 1st 2025, at 2:00.
