(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Richard Leon Dodson, 84, of Wentworth, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on Thursday February 6, 1941, in Carthage, Missouri to the union of Leon and Jewene Stroup Dodson. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School.
Richard met the love of his life, Margaret Ruth Turner, and they were united in marriage on June 5, 1964, sharing sixty-years of wonderful memories until her passing on February 9, 2025. Their journey together was one of mutual respect, unwavering support, and endless love. Together, they raised three sons; Gary Dodson of Monett, Eric Dodson and his wife Amy of Aurora, and Josh Dodson and his wife Amelia of Sarcoxie.
Richard was embraced in full-time farming, a vocation that was both his calling and his passion. Richard's commitment to agriculture and cattle went beyond the fields he tended; it was a testament to his belief in the importance of hard work and the value of nurturing the earth.
Blessed with six grandchildren—Dylan, Riley, Samantha, Dalton, Kierston, and Braxel Dodson; three step-grandchildren, Allison Sooter, Trent Patterson and Aubree Rogerson—Richard embraced every moment with them. His legacy further extended to a host of great-grandchildren, each of whom added a sparkle to his eye and joy to his heart.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents, Leon and Jewene Dodson; and his beloved grandson Jordan Dodson; and brothers, Robert Dodson and Ronald Dodson.
