(From Lakin Funeral Home)Roger Dean Schoonover, age 80, of Stark City, MO passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Freeman Neosho Hospital in Neosho, MO. He was born in Holly, CO on Sunday, April 8, 1945; son of O.J. and Vera (Cochran) Schoonover.
Roger loved being a hot-rodder. He always enjoyed fast cars. He rebuilt his first car in a barn at the homeplace when he was only 15 years old. He loved telling stories about racing cars and about a time he beat a guy who claimed he could never be beat, with Roger's car only running on seven cylinders. Roger spent most of his working years driving a truck and ended his career hauling lumber for the local hardwood mill.
The family wants to thank Roger's buddy, Tim Letts and his neighbor, Sarah Sue McNeely for being such great friends and looking out for him. They often brought food, checked on his house, and made sure he was okay. Roger will be missed by many.
Survivors include the following: his daughter, Kenna (Randy) Linebaugh of Mountain Home, AR and their two sons, Trent Robinson and Kyle Linebaugh; daughter, Merideth (Brett May) Schoonover of Camdenton, MO, their daughter, Megan Hill, and her two children, Alivia and Everett Morris; son, Vince Schoonover of Neosho, MO; brother, Lynn Schoonover of Dunlap, TN; sister, Mary Ann (David) Murphy of Diamond, MO; sister-in-law, Nancy Schoonover of Vinita, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
