Sandra Thompson

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary0

Sandra Vera Woodin Thompson, age 84, passed away on November 6 at Mercy Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was born on July 22, 1941, to Carl and Vera (Rogers) Woodin in Bottineau, ND.
Sandy lived a fascinating childhood traveling the country with the carnival, spending time with her parents and grandparents, who were concessionaires.

She married George Thompson on September 19, 1980, and they spent many years traveling as concessionaires of the Roman Targets, which is a carnival game invented and built by her father, Carl. She had a myriad of tales from her time "with the show", and loved to recount her experiences, which were always quite interesting.

Later in life, she delighted in her time spent with her grandchildren and was faithfully involved in all their extracurricular activities. She was an excellent photographer and was always sure to snap plenty of pictures at the events.

She will be remembered for her unwavering love, tenacious spirit, and her loyalty to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dean Woodin, of Joplin.
She is survived by her son Todd and his wife Kelly (Keitt), along with her precious grandchildren Olive, of Albuquerque, NM and Turner, of Joplin; and her nieces and nephews Chip Woodin, Mark Woodin and Tracey Woodin Stoddart, and a great-niece.

She will be interred next to George at Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Webb City, where a graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 20th, 2025 at 2:00pm.

Arrangements in care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
