Bill Jarvis

Billie Gene "Bill" Jarvis, age 94 of Galena, passed away at 12:08 AM on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Galena Nursing Center.

Bill was born in Melrose, KS on May 9, 1931 to the union of Winth Ernest Jarvis and Alma Pauline (Smith) Jarvis. He was united in marriage with Patricia Mae DeGraffenreid on June 17, 1951 in Arkansas. Together, they moved to Wichita where Bill worked as a machinist at Boeing, then to California where he worked for Kaiser Aluminum, and then returned to the four-states where he worked for Vickers in Joplin until his retirement. He enjoyed raising black angus cattle, cutting wood, and watching sports. His family was truly his pride and joy.








Survivors include one son, William "Billy" Jarvis of Galena, two daughters, Sharon Tucker (husband, Doug) of Joplin, and Susie Sweet of Galena; 8 grandkids, Angela, Stacie, Justin, Cody, Jared, Alison, Latricia, and Lenny; 24 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winth and Alma Jarvis; two brothers, Howard Jarvis and Bob Jarvis; and two sisters, Ruby Brewer and Mary Catherine Guthrie.








Mr. Jarvis has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Justin Wilson will officiate.
