(From Parker Mortuary)John Garrett passed away on December 17, 2025, in Joplin, MO, at the age of 80. Born on May 7, 1945, in Joplin, MO, John's life was a testament to the love and laughter he brought into the world.
After graduating from Carterville High School, he took great pride in racing horses and then became a traveling fruit salesman. He then dedicated many years to Protein Solutions in Joplin, where his commitment and demeanor made him a well-respected figure within the company.
John is survived by his two daughters, Heather Garrett of Joplin, MO, and Robyn Kolb & Troy of Hiawatha, KS. He was also a proud father to his sons, John Coffman of Oklahoma City, OK, and Chad Garrett of Diamond, MO. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren, Avery Parker, Ty Kennedy, Trent Kolb, Krystal Callorez, Caycee Dawn Coffman, Keshia Erbe-Wheatley, Chance Wheatley, Jodie Howard, and Carlie Howard, who brought immense joy and pride to his life.
John was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for the serenity of the woods and the thrill of the hunt. His love for the lake was only matched by his enthusiasm for the Denver Broncos. A cold beer in hand and a Broncos victory were the simple pleasures that made his day shine. His sense of humor and nature were infectious, and he was often the source of laughter in any gathering.
Those who knew John will remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest, with a smile on his face and kindness in his heart. He was a beacon of light for his family, a loyal friend to many.
John's life was a beautiful journey that touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the memories he created with those he loved.
