Maxine Schad

Maxine Jackson Schad, 96, of Monett, MO, passed away on December 10, 2025, at Aurora Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aurora, MO.

Maxine was born on April 3, 1929, in East Alton, IL to Richard and Ruby (Herron) Meier. Her father Richard passed away in November of 1935, and Maxine moved with her mother and brother, Nolan Meier, to Southwest Missouri. Her mother married Otto C. Buchholz in August of 1938. Maxine was raised in the Stones Prairie Community and attended St. John’s Parochial School. She graduated from Purdy High School. She also graduated from beauty school in Joplin and owned House of Beauty in Monett for a few years.








She married Oran S. Jackson on April 15, 1950 and lovingly raised four daughters. Oran preceded her in death in 2005.

In June 2007, she married Alvin J. Schad, he passed away in June of 2021.

Maxine worked many years for the Missouri Extension Office in Barry County and later worked at JayZees garment factory in Monett.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monett. Maxine and Oran were active in the church braille group and were custodians for the church for many years. She was also a member of the quilters group.

Maxine is survived by three daughters, Virginia (Duane) Moudy, Vickie (Drew) Sims and Vonna Farris; stepchildren, Barbara George and Dennis (Roni) Schad; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.







She is preceded in death by both Oran and Alvin; one daughter, Viva Jackson; son-in-law, Terry Farris; and brother and sister-in-law, Nolan and Betty Meier.

Funeral services for Mrs. Schad will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monett with Reverend Andrew Kennell officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at McCormick-St. John’s Cemetery, Monett. In memory of Maxine, memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
