Nick Slinkard

James Nickle “Nick” Slinkard, age 81, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Friday, December 19, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born February 5, 1944 in Cassville, Missouri the son of Vollmar James and Novita Mae (Nickle) Slinkard. On June 7, 1969 in Rocky Comfort, Missouri he was united in marriage to Colleen Long, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Chris Slinkard and husband John of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Tonya Varner and husband Terrell of Cassville, Missouri; sisters, LaRue Lyall and husband Jerry of Cassville, Missouri and Sheila Robbins of Cassville, Missouri and grandchildren, Payton and girlfriend Tori Goostree and Grant.








Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law, Ken Robbins.

Nick grew up and attended school in Cassville, Missouri graduating from Cassville High School with the class of 1962. He was a lifelong resident of Cassville. Nick drove a truck for his dad for several years before becoming a driver for EFCO Corporation in Monett, Missouri. He then owned and operated Slinkard’s Auto Salvage from 1990 until 2005, when he retired. Nick enjoyed hunting, traveling, restoring old cars and riding horses. He was a founding member of Barry County Search and Rescue, a member of Barry County Saddle Club and Cassville Cruisers. 

Nick loved going to his grandchildren’s ball games, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Nick was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.








Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears, Brother Dayton Brattin, and Pastor Jerry Nickle will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Corinth Cemetery in memory of Nick.
