Ronald Nelson

Ronald K. Nelson, age 69, of Carl Junction, Mo. passed away at 4:37 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home following a six month illness. Ron was born May 31, 1945 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. While in La Crosse he was Director of Purchasing and Facilities at St. Francis Hospital for 14 years. He moved to the Joplin-Carl Junction area in 2006 from Nevada, Mo. He worked in the Physical Plant Dept. at Ozark Christian College for 5 years.

Ron married Corky Wakeman on July 24, 1965 in La Crosse, Wisconsin and she survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Heather Keathly and husband Stephen, Laurel, Maryland, three sons. Troy Nelson and wife Tamra, Carl Junction, Kip Nelson and wife Catherine, Lee’s Summit, Mo. and Ryan Nelson and wife Sara, Olathe, Ks. and nine grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Nelson.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the College Heights Christian Church Chapel with Ed Hahn, and Rick Bushnell, Ministers, officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Church. Memorial contributions are requested to Ozark Christian College, God’s Resort, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
