Carole Jean Heggen, 'Mother Heggen', age 74, Joplin, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Galena Nursing Center after a long illness.
Carole was born July 14, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Clinton Davis, Jr. and Ruth Hunsicker Davis and had lived in Joplin for many years.
She worked as an RN "Nancy Nurse" for most of her adult working life at various medical facilities in several different states. She worked at the former St. John's Regional Medical Center in Intensive Care for several years before she retired.
Carole was a supporter of the Red Hat Society and supported organizations such as the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation and anything to do with the Veterans Administration. She was also proud to say that she was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wayne Heggen and her stepson Richard Heggen.
Survivors include her brother, Clinton Parker Davis III and his wife of Overland Park, Kansas; two nieces, Amy Anderson and her husband, Eric, Natalie Graziano; one great niece, Parker Anderson; step children, David Heggen of Texas, Karen Pouscher Ames of Joplin, Kim Monaco of Iowa; and several step grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend, Misty Sohosky and her husband, John Joseph IV of Joplin.
A memorial visitation is planned for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, St. Louis, or to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
