Juanita Lorene Gandy Allen, age 89, Joplin, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Freeman Hospital.
Juanita was born March 14, 1926 in Webb City, Missouri to the late Fred Gandy and Ruby Everett Gandy and had lived in the Joplin area all of her life.
A homemaker, she had worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for several years. She was a faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and Club 44. Juanita also did volunteer work by delivering Meals on Wheels.
She married Richard 'Dick' Allen on November 22, 1956 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1984.
Juanita was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dena Dougherty.
Survivors include her children, Julie Dameron and her husband, Greg, Joplin, Tim Allen and his wife, Rebecca, Grove, Butch Allen and his wife, Nancy, Grove, Rickey Higgins, Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren, Holly Brown, Tony Dameron, Richard Allen, Elizabeth Petersen; four step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Jeanie Bigley, Joplin; and several other extended family members.
Services are planned for Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Rodney Peters will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, in care of Parker Mortuary.
