Melvin Henry Hildreth, 90, Neosho, died July 2, 2015 in Joplin, following a short illness.
Melvin was born July 8, 1924 in Carl Junction, Missouri, one of seven children to Milton and Emma May (Shaffer) Hildreth. He graduated from Memorial High School in Joplin and was a lifelong area resident. Melvin served in the U.S. Army, 1943-1946. He worked for Empire District Electric as a service representative and retired in 1986. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter; a horseman and loved to dance. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Moose Club in Grove, Oklahoma.
Melvin married Norma Ruth Clower on Feb. 13, 1969 and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Deborah Chatman and husband, Ira of Mountain Home, AR; Roger Hildreth of Denver, CO; step daughter, Cheril Smith of Grove, OK; ten grandchildren, Micaela Chatman, Ariel Kleczewski and husband, Brian, Clelland James-Henry Chatman, Emily Margaret Hildreth, Doug Smith, Dana Smith Stewart, Deana Swogger, Tim Scott, Stacia Scott and Katie Scott; thirteen great grandchildren, Lucy Mae Kleczewski, Jennifer Montoya, Aaron Mulleneaux, DJ Mulleneaux, Dakota Whiteturkey, Remington Whiteturkey, Brittany Smith, Logan Stewart, Wacey Williams, Kye Rieff, Hunter Davis, Chaney Scott and Bailey Scott and one sister, Oleta Szymanski of Albuquerque, NM. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a step daughter, Cindy Scott; three sisters and two brothers
