Robert Harold Basye, age 87 of Joplin, Mo passed away Sunday July 5, 2015 at the National Health Care Nursing Home in Joplin, Mo.
He was born on July 24, 1927 in Golden City, Mo the son of Robert Coleman and Marie “Dill” Basye. Robert was a WWII Veteran serving his country with the United States Navy. He married Frances Teeter on November 28, 1946 in Joplin, Mo she preceded him in death on June 1, 1993. Robert owned and operated Basye Wilhite Sign Co. He was active in the Tri State Family Boat Club, Joplin YMCA and the Joplin Senior Center. He enjoyed Fishing, Golf and Painting.
Robert was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Max and Frank Basye; and a sister Winona Johnson. Survivors include three sons: Robert C. Basye of Bartlesville, Ok, Max Basye and wife Lorraine of Oronogo, Mo and Jerome Basye of Joplin, Mo; two daughters Rebecca Clow and husband D.J. of Chillicothe, Mo and Mary Thornberry and husband Gary of Bartlesville, Ok; a sister Betty McGriff of Carl Junction, Mo; nine grandchildren: John Emmert and wife Lindy, Mindy Beyer and husband Bobby, Brandy Johnson and husband Chad, Nick Halls and wife Stacy, Sarah Eidson husband Aaron, Isiah Basye and wife Autumn, Lillie McKenzie and husband Calvin , Katie Clow, and John Marlett and wife Carlea; sixteen great grandchildren, and a longtime family friend and companion Retha Moser of Carl Junction, Mo.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday July 8, 2015 at the Fairview Cemetery with Max Basye officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory. The family Suggests contributions to the Joplin Senior Center in care of the mortuary.
