Julie Marie (Strasser) Pyle, 57, passed away September 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at her home after a 3 month battle with cancer.
She was born August 19, 1958 at Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Eugene and Martha (Titus) Strasser. She attended St. Mary’s/Colgan and graduated in 1976. She received a degree as a registered technologist radiographer in 1985 and worked as a tech for Dr. Armstrong from 1985 to 2003. Julie married Richard Pyle in February 1994. They purchased Grassies Retail Liquor in 2004 and renamed it Pairott Head Liquor where she enjoyed meeting and greeting customers, making recommendations for wine and spirits for all occasions as well as hosting and participating in wine tasting events. Some of her favorite activities were golfing, camping, lounging in her pool and video poker. Over the past couple years Richard and Julie traveled in their R-Pod visiting numerous locations across the United States.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Frontenac, KS; two step children, Adam Pyle of Kansas City; Laura (Pyle) Howerter and her husband Ben of Parsons, KS; mother Martha Strasser of Pittsburg, KS; sister, Vicki (Strasser) Wilson and husband Henry of Rogers, AR; brothers, Jeff Strasser and wife Kathleen of Girard, KS, Mark Strasser, of Girard, KS, Tim Strasser of Pittsburg, KS, and Shawn Strasser and wife Dawn of Webb City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Eugene Strasser.
Memorial Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (September 30) at Brenner Mortuary. Her wishes were to be cremated. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the S.E.K. Humane Society. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St., Pittsburg.
