Robert Dale Hastings, age 71, of Carthage, Missouri, formerly of Bronaugh, Missouri, died Friday, September 11, 2015 at Barton County Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Robert was born, July 17, 1944 at Nevada, Missouri to John Raymond Hastings and Dora Beatrice (Fry) Hastings and graduated high school in Bronaugh, Missouri.
On July 3, 1978, Robert married Becky Davis at Miami, Oklahoma. He was a self-employed carpenter, building many homes over the last 37 years, and had also been a crop farmer. Robert really enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Becky Hastings, of the home; a son, Dale Hastings of Texas; two daughters, Debbie (Brian) Richards of Texas and Faith (Jared) Jeffries of Jasper, Missouri; a step-son, Brent (Cynthia) Alford, of Lamar, Missouri; four brothers, Donald (Doris) Hastings of Illinois, John Darwin (Marianne) Hastings of Arcola, Missouri, Gary Hastings of Bronaugh, and Billy Ray Hastings of Georgia; two sisters, Betty (Jerry) Smith of Wichita, Kansas and Joan (Bill) Owens, of Joplin, Missouri; and seven grandchildren, Aubrey Allen, Sarah Allen, Rachael Allen, Logan Alford, Sierra Alford, Blake Jeffries, and Baylee Jeffries.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Lorraine Hastings, Jo Ellen Jones, and Laverna Drummond.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Hannon Freewill Baptist Church with visitation following the service.
