Carol Ann Dixon Gardner, 79, of Wyandotte, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her residence.
Carol was born in Jane, Missouri, one of four children born to the late, Denver and Blanche (Bagby) Matthews. She moved to Wyandotte 15 years ago coming from Anderson, Missouri. She married Everett Dixon on May 31, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma and they spent 38 wonderful years together until he passed away on July 22, 2011. In 2014 she married Everett Gardner. Carol worked at Daisy Air Rifle Company and she made award ribbons at the BKB Gold Stamp Company in Anderson, Missouri. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, canning, farming, was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She was attending the Seneca Assembly of God and taught Sunday school in several churches.
Carol is survived by her two children, Rex Plumlee of Bixby, Oklahoma, Vicki Funk of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; a brother, Jim Matthews of Perry, Oklahoma; two sisters, Connie Matthews of Springfield, Missouri, Cathy Calkins of Cushing, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Heather Clark, Kasey Heiller, Kelly Smith, Grace Jackson, and Kendra Conner; eight great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Carol.
Funeral services for Carol will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Denny Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma. Those honoring Carol's life by serving as pallbearers are Rex Plumlee, Larry Calkins, Shaun Heiller, Michael Smith, Major Smith and Jordan Conner. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 9:00 am to service time in the funeral home chapel.
