Bart S. Owen, age 55, of Pierce City, MO died on Sunday, October 09, 2016, after a short illness at his home in Pierce City, MO. Mr. Owen was born in Joplin, MO on Sunday, January 29, 1961. He was the son of Tim Owen and Patricia Kirks.
Mr. Owen was a 1979 graduate of Pierce City High School and played football for St. Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. He spent ten years on the north slopes of Alaska.
Surviving are the following: his son, Jesi Owen of Pierce City, MO; his father, Tim Owen and wife, Penney, of Pierce City, MO; one brother, Mark Owen and wife, Kim, of Nowata, OK; one step-brother, Alan Konwinski of Atlanta, GA; one step-sister, Tawnia Goad of Neosho, MO; and two grandchildren, Braxton and Bronc Owen.
Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Kirks, on February 7, 2016.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Memorial services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, October 15, 2016, beginning at 8:00 PM with family and friends officiating. Mr. Owen has been cremated at his request. Burial will be at a later time.
