Stephen “Steve” G. Friede, 72, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday evening, October 20, 2016 at his home. Stephen Gordon Friede was born December 29, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Raymond Friede and Florence (Ingram) Friede. Steve graduated from Benilde High School in Minnesota, Class of 1961. He then went on to the University of Arizona and received his BA in History. He worked as plant manager for the Motorola Plant in Joplin, MO. Steve married Mary “Sue” Smith on February 13, 1982 in Salt Lake City, UT; she survives. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage.
Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Pamela Newman, Flagstaff, AZ, Laura Moir (husband Paul), Flagstaff, AZ, Dana Frazier, Carthage, MO, and Jeana Bartosh (husband John), Carthage, MO; one son, Steve Friede Jr. (wife Missy), Oxford, OH; two brothers, Tom Friede (wife Molly), Deephaven, MN, and Tim Friede, Chanhassen, MN; three sisters, Sue Ferron (husband Fred), Long Lake, MN, Pat Gustafson (husband Paul), Annandale, MN, and Peggy Burmaster (husband Jim), Lake Oswego, OR; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Fr. Steve Wilson will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Emmanuel Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
