Zula Mae Points, age 90, of Grove, Oklahoma, formerly of Joplin and Webb City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born October 15, 1925, in Webb City, Missouri to Arlo and Hazel (Rose) Lasiter.
Zula lived in the Webb City, Missouri area from birth until 2002 when she moved to Grove to be closer to family. She was the co-owner and operator of Bennies Fruit Market for many years. After retiring from the market she worked for the former Wyatt’s Cafeteria, as well as for Big Lots in Webb City and Dollar General in Joplin. After moving to Grove, she worked with her son, Benny, in his fruit market. Zula enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard. She loved flowers.
She married Otis J. Points on November 16, 1941, and he preceded her in death on February 9, 1987. Zula is also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Kimberly Ann Brill and Staci Endicott; one great-grandchild; two brothers and one sister.
Zula is survived by four sons, Robert Points and wife, Trudy, the state of Florida, Benny Points and wife, Reba, Miami, Oklahoma, Billy Points and wife, Patty, Texarkana, Jeff Points and wife, Sara, Grove, Oklahoma; four daughters, Joyce Beauford and Bill, Grove, Oklahoma, Linda LaSalle and husband, Dan, Verdigris, Oklahoma, Diana McKenzie and husband, Eric, St. Louis, Missouri, Pamela Petty and husband, Steve, Grove, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruth Wilson, and husband, George, Oronogo, Missouri; one brother, Larry Lasiter, and wife, Dixie, Carterville, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
