Irene Christerson

Mrs. Irene Olive Christerson, 96, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016.

Irene was born on March 5, 1920, in North English, Iowa, to the late Clarence and Fannie (Delosier) Tippie. She moved to McDonald County when she was a young girl, remaining for most of her life. She married Charles Christerson on March 12, 1938, and to this union five children were born. She and Charles had a farm north of Anderson for many years. She loved farming, gardening and visiting with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Christerson on June 9, 1977; two children, Bill Christerson and Glenda Maness; a grandson, Eric Wallis; a step grandson, Rock Hughes; two sisters, Bea Pace and Beulah Stalker; and a son in-law, Bud Maness.

Irene is survived by one son, Kenneth Christerson and wife, Myra, of Anderson; two daughters, Margaret Wallis and husband, Dan, of Carthage, Missouri and Donna Hughes and husband, Jim, of Neosho, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Doug Christerson, Gina Hoth, David Christerson, Paul Christerson, Cynthia Macy, Lynn Judd, Sandra Hughes, Heather Hughes, Lisa Rundell and Charles Maness; eight great grandchildren; a sister Rowena McIntire; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Christerson are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Chaplain Michael Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are David Christerson, Paul Christerson, Doug Christerson, Jay Hoth, Carson Hoth, Adam Henson and Boone Macy. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the Anderson United Methodist Church and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
