Allan C. Wilcox, a Joplin, Mo., lawyer, passed away on March 8, 2017, of complications arising from a blood disorder caused by his exposure to Agent Orange while serving in the Special Forces during Vietnam Nam. He was 71.
Allan, who practiced in Missouri and Oklahoma, loved being a lawyer and walking into the courthouse in his cowboy boots. He served his country in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969 as a Sergeant in the Special Forces Green Beret. As a Green Beret, he jumped out of helicopters and planes into the jungles of Vietnam Nam. He was trained in underwater warfare and as a medic.
Allan loved adventure, travel, and food. He liked to fish with his son and grandsons, ride Harley's, drive fast cars, and big trucks. In his 50's, he started riding bulls and attended the Professional Bull Riding rodeo many times. The man had no fear.
Allan was loved and admired by his family, friends, and many clients. He had a dry sense of humor and quick wit. Nothing gave him more joy than to make those around him smile and laugh.
Allan Cade Wilcox was born in Hot Springs, Ark., to Cecil and Floy Wilcox, but grew up in Las Vegas, Nev., and Oklahoma.
Allan received a bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in 1971, a Master's Degree from University of Tulsa, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma.
He is survived by his three children, Martie (Stanley) Jobe, Shannon (Michael) Strahan, and John (Laura) Wilcox, eight lovely grandchildren, and six grand dogs.
Private family services will be held in Stillwater, Okla., on Saturday, March 11.
