Charles A. 'Charlie' Tabb, age 78, Joplin, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at his home after an illness.
Charlie was born January 15, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Delmar G. Tabb and Ruth Marie Pendergraft Tabb and had lived in the area since 1945.
He worked at Macy's Department Store in the men's department for over ten years and at Safeway Bakery for several years. Charlie also served with the Missouri National Guard for twenty nine years, retiring in 1990 as a Master Sergeant. In his spare time, Charlie could always be found on the links, enjoying a round of golf.
Charlie was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club and Jaycees in Pierce City, Missouri. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Bodies.
He married Peggy Hosp in 1962 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include Theresa Robbins, Joplin, whom he treated like a daughter; a brother, Tom Tabb and his wife, Martha, Joplin; and a large extended family, including nieces, Susan Diane Clement, Georgia, Carrie Moore, St. Louis and nephew, Aaron Tabb, Joplin.
Services are planned for Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Scott E. Stone will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Tabb, Garry Moore, Shannon Robbins, Jay Stone, Joe Clement, Carl Henning and Brian Boone. Honorary pallbearer will be Glen Stone. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
