Margarette Mae Robertson, age 87, Seneca, passed away at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Oak Pointe Assisted Living Center, Neosho, after an illness.
Margarette was born April 19, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Carl Rogers and Lillian Kooken Rogers and had lived in the Joplin area since 1962.
A homemaker until her children were grown, Margarette entered the work force later in life as a realtor with the former Brookman Realty Company for several years. She then worked as an associate with Famous Barr, now known as Macy's, for twenty years. Margarette, along with her late husband, Charles, was very active with Freeman Hospital. She volunteered in the gift shop at the former Oak Hill Hospital, where she also served as past president of the auxiliary. She was also a long time member of the Ladies of the Elks. In her spare time, Margarette hand crafted porcelain dolls; made quilts; crocheted and enjoyed traveling. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Margarette married Charles J. Robertson on March 29, 1950 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2012.
Survivors include her children, Charles 'Bob' Robertson and his wife, Jackie, Joplin, Roger Robertson and wife, Gloria, Joplin, Ron Robertson and wife, Vicki, Kansas City, Susan Boyer and husband, Waymeth, Seneca; a sister, Ruth White, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Paul Rogers, McAllister, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Candace Boyer Armstrong and husband, Paul, Waylon Boyer and wife, Karisa, Rusty Robertson, Keith Robertson, Holly Robertson, Michelle Robertson, Ashley Schell and husband, Lance, Cameron Robertson, Kelsey Robertson, Brandon Robertson; eight great grandchildren and several extended family members.
Services are planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Matt McGuirk will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rusty Robertson, Keith Robertson, Cameron Robertson, Brandon Robertson, Waylon Boyer and Quinton Platner. Honorary pallbearer will be Waymeth Boyer. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus or to the American Alzheimer's Association, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
The family would like to thank the staff in the memory care unit at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Neosho for the kindness that was shown to Margarette during her stay there.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
