Scott D. Spencer, age 57, Joplin, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Mercy Hospital after an illness.
Scott was born March 4, 1960 in Joplin and was a lifetime Joplin resident.
He worked as a welder for S&S Construction Company. Scott also played guitar in several local bands for many years.
Scott is survived by his mother and step father, Polly and Kenneth Melton, Joplin; children, Joseph Spencer, Cameron, Missouri, Jay Spencer and his wife, Misty, Joplin, Kayla Mohr and her husband, Ace, Carthage; his special friend, Stacy Fullerton, Kansas City; two step daughters, Megan Pickering and Mandy Allen, both of Joplin; siblings, Cammy Simpson, Galena, Kelly Spencer and his wife, Becky, Joplin, Chris Spencer, Joplin; and grandchildren, Jay Spencer II, Raden England, Jamie Spencer, Jazzmyn Spencer, Kloie Simond, Cameron Summers, Jacob Spencer, Jonathan Spencer, Maddison, Spencer and Lilly Spencer.
Scott was preceded in death by a son, Jon Spencer and a daughter, Kandy Spencer.
Services are planned for Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church. Rev. Joe Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Spencer, Cody Spencer, Eddie Simpson, Jonathan Spencer, Jay Spencer II and Joe Sneed. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church.
