Donald Dean Holland, age 72, of Lamar, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Don was born February 17, 1945, in Sheldon, Missouri, second of the two sons of Howard T. and Ruth (George) Holland. After graduating from Bronaugh High School in 1962, he worked for a short time for Hallmark in Kansas City before moving to Willard, Missouri, working at Lily Cup Company. His career as a printing press operator took him to California for the next 18 years. Don returned to Missouri in 1988, working at Thorco in Lamar for several years before retiring in 1992 due to ill health. Don earned many trophies through his skill at bowling and his favorite outdoor sport was bass fishing.
Survivors include his son, Tim Holland of Lamar; his brother, Howard (Louise) Holland of Liberal; a nephew Curt (Mary) Holland and their children of Nashville, Tennessee; a niece, Tina (Phil) VanKirk and their children of Lamar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6th, at Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Curt Holland & Minister Scott Grey officiating. The Family will receive family & friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday. Burial will be in Worsley Cemetery near Bronaugh.
Memorial contributions are suggested to American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
