James M. Watson, Sr., age 64, of Neosho, Mo., passed away on Monday May 8, 2017, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
James was born on January 3, 1953, in Romulus, NY., the son of Donald L. Watson and Geraldine (Saunders) Drew. He served as an engineer in the United States Army, retiring following twenty-two years of honorable service. He was a veteran of Desert Storm. Following his retirement from the Army he worked for twenty-one years for Terminix. He married Darcy Streeter on June 13, 1970 in Athens, PA., together they raised six children. He was a member of Peace Tabernacle Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and anything that happened outdoors. He loved watching westerns and Chuck Norris movies. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Darcy Watson, Neosho, MO; six children, Tammy Webb and husband Tim, Joplin, James M. Watson, Jr. and wife Yvonne, Hampton, VA; Scott Watson and wife Darlene, Athens, PA; Brent Watson and wife Angela, Mechanicsburg, PA; Erica Watson, Neosho, MO and Dustin Watson and wife Casey, Neosho, MO; his mother Geraldine Drew, Crocker, MO; one brother, Carl Stanton, Neosho, MO; three sisters, Debbie Watson, Crocker, MO, Bonnie Didlot and husband Don, Oronogo, MO, and Rose Pierce and husband Clyde, Crocker, MO.; thirteen grandchildren, Makayla, Breauna, Britney, Jozlynn, Kiarra, Makenzie, Aurora Grace, Tyler, Ryan, Landon, Kayden, Jett, and Jai; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Frank Buchanan will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Peace Tabernacle Church in care of the mortuary.
