(From Parker Mortuary)
Margaret Marie Covey, a devout Christian, faithful wife and loving mother, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, after a long and fulfilled life of 85 years.
Margaret was born on November 14, 1931 to Arthur and Oma Westfall in Joplin, Missouri. Margaret married Robert Covey Sr. on August 16, 1953. They had six loving children together. Her time with family was very important and cherished greatly. Margaret faithfully attended her children's activities and gave constant support in all they did. Prior to moving, Margaret attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Joplin.
She moved to Tomball, Texas in 1980. Margaret retired in 2003 after 30 plus years of dedicated service in the Joplin, MO and Tomball TX school food services. She attended Faith Temple Baptist Church, Spring TX. Margaret spent many summer nights working in the concession stand and cheering on the many ball players that became a part of her life. Those who were close to Margaret said she was the most gracious, strong, giving, loving and selfless angel they had ever met. She was a second mother to many, and she welcomed anyone into her home for dinner and conversation. She loved serving others and giving everyone a place to call home. Her family rests in the peace that she is with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Margaret is survived by her husband Robert Covey Sr. and their six children; Robert Covey Jr. (Annie), Benjamin Covey (Linda), Dennis Covey (Tracy), Marie Russell (Dwane), Theresa Bateman (Shaun), Ed Covey (Brandi), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. up to service time, at Parker Mortuary. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin.
