Vernon Lewis Roberts, Sr., age 79 of Joplin, passed away at his home on Monday, May 15, 2017, from an extended illness.
Vernon was born on January 7, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late Roy Roberts and Vera DeFord Roberts. After high school, Vernon served our country in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a cabinet maker for several years before becoming a supervisor in the carnival business where he enjoyed being able to travel.
On October 17, 1984, Vernon married Rosemary Stuteville in Harrisonville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2004. Additionally, a son, Calvin Burch; two daughters, Tammy Roberts and Roselee Burch; sisters, Betty Jean Weber and Kathryn Dart, all preceded Vernon in death.
Survivors include a son, Vernon L. Roberts, Jr.; daughters, Joanne Burch and Nancy Burch; brothers, Craig Fairall and wife, Malinda of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, Tom Dart of Mesquite, Nevada; sisters, Barbara R. Hageman and husband, Fred of Milton, Delaware, Vanessa L. Harris and husband, Darrell of Sedalia, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, and no services are scheduled at this time.
