Godfrey R. 'Red' Busick, age 87, Joplin, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Freeman Hospital after an illness.
Red was born June 1, 1930 in Joplin to the late Godfrey Busick and Mary Etta Fleming Busick and had lived in the area most of his life.
He worked at Seward's Insulation for many years, retiring in 1992, only to go back to work there for several more years. Red was a member of Joplin Lodge #345, AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Joplin; Joplin Shrine Club, where he served as past Rajah and was a member of the Oriental Band; Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple, Springfield and the Three State Family Boat Club. Red was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He married Shirley Cook on July 26, 1952 in Huntsville, Arkansas. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include his children, Teresa Claybrook and husband, Jay, Spring, Texas, Brenda Fahmy and husband, Samir, Joplin, Charles Busick and wife, Gerri, Webb City; siblings, Jenny Miller and husband, Ray, Coquille, Oregon, Patty Seward and husband, John, Oronogo; ten grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by two sons, Godfrey Busick III and Larry Gene Busick and siblings, Betty Miller, Joann Busick, Delores McCoy and Bobbie Sue Collings.
Graveside services are planned for Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Masonic services are planned for Thursday at 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
