Charles Kendrick Emmert, age 78, of Webb City, Mo. passed away at 11:22 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at his home in Webb City. Charles was born February 5, 1939 in Joplin, Mo. to Leo and Ellen Lloyd Emmert. He had been a Joplin area resident all his life.
Charles was employed as a Contract Analyst with Day and Zimmerman Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Ks., retiring in 1991. He had previously worked for the Sperry-Vickers Corp. in Joplin, Teledyne in Neosho, Mo. and The McNally Co. in Pittsburg, Ks. Charles was a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church of Joplin. He served 7 years in the Mo. National Guard.
Charles married Judy Ackerman January 20, 1958 in Joplin, Mo. and she survives. Additional survivors include two daughters, Deborah Fort, Neosho, Mo. and Teresa Barrett and husband David, Jefferson City, Mo., one brother, Terry Emmert and wife, Ada, Riverton, Ks., four grandchildren; Selena Walls, Jared Carey, Theodore Riggs, and Abby Barrett, and three great grandchildren; Valerius, Gwendolyn, and Lizabet Walls.
Charles’ wishes were to be cremated. A private family gathering will be held at a later date, and his cremains buried in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
