Diane L Epperson, 83, passed from this life on August 30, 2017 at her home in Bella Vista, Arkansas. She was born January 31, 1934 in Pineville, Missouri to Earl and Evelyn (Durbin) Leggitt. Diane graduated valedictorian from Carthage Class if 1951. She was an employee of Hercules Powder Company for over 20 years and also Atlas Powder Plant. She retired from Jasper County Probate Court in 1998. Diane served on the Carthage City Council, was a member of the Lincoln Ladies and served as trip coordinator for Jasper County Extension Club. She and Cecil retired to their home on Lake Ann in Bella Vista in 2000. She performed with a clogging group at area nursing homes and charity events.
Diane and Cecil married on February 14, 1954. Together they enjoyed a passion for choreographed ballroom dancing, teaching and traveling to dance festivals throughout the United States. Many weekends were spent attending soccer matches and swim meets to cheer on their grandchildren.
Diane is survived by her husband, Cecil; her daughters, Cindy Dixon (Danny) of Carthage and Lori Myers (Dennis) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Jeanne Miller (Tom) of Carthage; three grandchildren, Joe Dixon (Michelle) of Carthage, Megan Myers of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Morgan Myers of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and two great grandchildren, Logan Dixon and Nora Dixon.
Memorial services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Carthage at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017. Visitation will follow.
