Homer “Sonny” Glenn Teter, Jr. 70 years, of Neosho, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Sonny was born on July 26, 1947 in Ottawa, Kansas to the late, Homer Glenn Teter, Sr. and Louise Caroline (Muller) Teter. He spent his youth and early years in Ottawa, Kansas before moving to Texas. After Texas he moved to Neosho, Missouri where he settled and lived the remainder of his years. He had a career in carpentry and construction, working for Branco Enterprises for over 20 years. Other hobbies including being a CB radio enthusiast, bowling and fishing.
Sonny lived a simple life, working night and day to support his family. He was the hardest working man with the greatest work ethic any of us knew. He was proud of his work whether it be doing simple home improvements to building a school or commercial shopping centers. He never settled for anything less than perfection upon completion. Sonny only had a few close best friends (we’re looking at you, David Pilkington) but he was looked up to and loved by many. Sonny helped too many people to count and would always be there when asked. He was a teacher of all things; seriously, this man knew everything, but he was always open to listen anytime. One lesson he taught his children was to always demand respect for yourself and never accept anything less than. He was always cracking jokes; of course, never meant for children or your mother’s ears. Above all, his greatest achievement were his children and most favorite activity was spending time with his family. No need to go anywhere or do anything, just simply sitting and talking. There was never enough time that would satisfy him. His ultimate goal was always making sure his family knew he loved them to the very end.
He is survived by his companion, Janice Graham of the home; a son, Charles Teter of Olathe, Kansas; a daughter, Angel Fritz and husband, Tiffin of Burlington, Kansas; a daughter, Trudy Teter-Bishop and husband Sean of Ottawa, Kansas; a daughter, Dusti Powell and husband Mike of Ottawa, Kansas; a sister, Kathryn Stewart of Ottawa, Kansas and family, niece, Bonnie Ramsey, nephew, David Stewart and niece, Linda Tate; a sister, Barbara Williams of Ottawa, Kansas and family, niece, Debra Lysaught and nephew, Rick Williams; a sister, Patricia Ann Parker of Forsyth, Missouri and family, niece, Cindy Parker, nephew, Billy Parker, nephew, Rex Parker and nephew Victor Parker. Grandpa Sonny was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Danielle and Joel Dale, Cody Fritz, Courtney and Alex Bower, Celsie Powell, Jakob Teter, Wyatt Teter, Cierra Fritz, Michael Powell, Chloe Fritz, Matthew Powell, Abigayle Bishop, Chase Powell and 2 great grandchildren, Bayleigh Bower and Llewellyn Dale.
