Millie P. Peoples, 89, Carthage, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO. Millie “Peggy” Peoples was born July 12, 1928 in Carthage to the late William “Roscoe” Gipson and “Daisy” Elmeda (Kirby) Gipson. She graduated from Carthage High School, Class of 1946. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Carthage, where she also worked as office secretary for 35 years. Peggy married Ralph E. Peoples on August 23, 1946 in Carthage, MO; he preceded her in death onFebruary 25, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Smith (husband Art), Joplin, MO, and Sheila Pollard (husband Rodney), Branson, MO; one sister, Anna Mae Green, Carthage, MO; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, William Allen Gipson and James Gipson, and one sister, Mary Gipson.
Visitation will be held 1-2 pm, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 pm. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Minister Jacob Pollard will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Carthage Nazarene Church in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
