James "Jamie" L. Otten, Sr, 53, entered into rest on November 19, 2017 at his home in Neosho surrounded by his loving family following a fifteen month illness. Jamie was born May 7, 1964 in Stella, Missouri, and was a lifelong area resident. He worked for the City of Neosho for 25 years before retiring as Director of Public Works in 2006. He then established and operated Otten Plumbing Co. Jamie was a member of the Church of Hope. Jamie married Sharon Jelley on June 7, 1980. She survives. Additional survivors include son, James Otten, Jr, his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Ethan, Elijah, and Ezekiel; daughter, Melissa Williams, her husband, Daniel, and their children, Christian, Reagan, and Brooklyn; mother, Shirley Cornett; stepfather, Charles Brown; mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Clarence Jelley; brother, Steven Otten; sister, Tami Leporin; niece Rebecca Whetzell, her husband, John, and children, Logan and Trinity; niece, Tiffany Wright, and her son, Andre Ryan. Jamie is preceded in death by his father, James McMillen.
Services will be held on Friday, November 24th at 1 pm at the First Baptist Church of Neosho. Pastor Dennis Bergen will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4-6 pm at the Clark Funeral Home of Neosho.
