Nicholas J. Goetzinger, 83, Carthage, MO, passed away Monday evening, November 6, 2017 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch, Joplin, MO. Nicholas “Nick” John Goetzinger was born December 6, 1933 in Aurora, IL to the late John J. Goetzinger and Susan G. (Behm) Goetzinger. He graduated from Marmion Academy, Aurora, IL, Class of 1951. Nick then attended Virginia Military Institute and later received his degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois. He worked as a chemist for over 25 years before becoming a self-employed businessman. Nick married Natalie Eckle on January 29, 1955 in Aurora, IL; she preceded him in death on April 3, 2002. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage, MO.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Roggow (husband Rodney), Jackson, MO; two sons, Jeffrey Goetzinger (wife Lynette), Springfield, MO and Gregory Goetzinger (wife Cara), Carthage, MO; nine grandchildren, Ryan Roggow, Rachel Prost (husband Jeff), Kate Roggow Arnzen, Nicholas Goetzinger, Megan Goetzinger, Natalie Goetzinger, Madeleine Goetzinger, Jay Berry and Blake Berry; and one great grandchild, Lea Arnzen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, June Moeller, and one grandchild, Amy Roggow.
Visitation will be held 9:00 am, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 followed by a memorial Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett St., Springfield, MO 65804. Fr. Fergus Monaghan will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO.
