Norma Jean Strait, 85, passed away November 25, 2017 in Carthage, Missouri. Norma was born April 1, 1932 in Gravette, Arkansas to Roy Leonard Phillips and Anna “Terry” Phillips. She was a longtime Carthage resident and worked for Jasper County Title, retiring from there after 40 years. Norma was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Carthage.
Norma is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Strait (Tia) of Carthage, MO and Norman Dale Strait of Shawnee, KS; two sisters, JoAnn Welch of Lincoln, AR, and Carmalee “Pag” Munyon of Lincoln, AR; two brothers, Roy Leonard Phillips Jr. of Evansville, AR and Gerald Wayne Phillips of Cane Hill, AR.; two grandchildren, Tara Ann “Strait” Cross (Peter) and Tristian Strait (Melissa); four great grandchildren, Rhett, Quinn, Rhyse and Ophelia.
Norma was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Dillon and Ethel Abshier.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
