George Franklin Mayberry, 85, of Monett went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Thursday January 18, 2018 while staying at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was born in Chesapeake, Missouri on December 4, 1932; the son of the late Clifton and Anna (Emlet) Mayberry. He was united in marriage in Mt. Vernon, Missouri on May 22, 1956 to Virginia Myers; she survives.
He was in the grocery business in Mt. Vernon, a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Era, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett, Missouri.
George is survived by his wife Virginia of the home; two sons: Dan Mayberry of Joplin and Sam Mayberry of Troy, Missouri; one daughter: Terry Mayberry of Chesapeake, Virginia; one sister: Lois Wright of Springfield, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation for George is being held on Saturday January 20, 2018 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Graveside services are being held on Sunday January 21, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at the Mt. Vernon I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Missouri with Dr. Bill Cox officiating.
Memorial donation for George may be made to the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
