Thelma L. Brown, 102, Diamond, entered into rest on Jan. 17, 2018 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage.
Thelma was born Sept. 25, 1915 in Rocky Comfort, MO, the daughter of Hugh and Cordelia (Bible) Patterson. She was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching the birds and was an avid quilter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Diamond.
Thelma and Noah C. Brown were married on June 30, 1935 at Joplin and he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2013. She is survived by four children, Joyce Griffin of Carthage; Joy Richardson of San Antonio, TX; Curt Brown and wife, Wilma of Diamond and Noah Glen Brown and wife, Judy of Jay, OK; twenty one grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Barnard, grandson, James; granddaughter, Glenna Kay Stripland and brother, Larry Patterson.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church in Diamond, Rev. Ron Crow will officiate. Interment will follow in the Diamond Cemetery and grandsons, Jerry Shipman, Gary Shipman, Mike Griffin, Danny Brown, Steve Brown and Brad Brown will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
