Joan McKinney, age 85, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Sunday morning, February 11, 2018, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.
Joan was born July 5, 1932, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of John Warren and Bessie (Jackson) Warren and she was raised on a small family farm in the Asbury area. Joan was a homemaker for over 20 years as she was most dedicated to raising her two children. Later, she worked as a cook for the Elmhurst Nursing Home in Webb City, which is currently Webb City Health and Rehab. Joan was an incredibly independent person and was very proud that she lived on her own up until just a short time ago. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Joplin.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Patricia Walker.
Survivors include her two children, Bobbie Jo Gray (Steve) of Buckner, Missouri, and Darren McKinney (Melissa) of Crestline, Kansas; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of friends.
Graveside services for Joan are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with David Heimberg officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
