Ronald J. Dock, 77, of Pittsburg, passed from this earth February 6, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His death followed an extended illness.
Ron was born October 16, 1940, at Pittsburg, the son of Raymond and Florine (Lagneau) Dock. He was a 1958 graduate of Pittsburg High School and had been a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. Ron and Mary (Lloyd) Dock were married September 3, 1961. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage and have lived at the same residence for 53 years. They were parents of two children Bonnie Turner of Joplin, MO, and Brian Dock of Parsons, KS. Ron worked at W.S. Dickey Clay and was a mine power electrician at Atkinson Industries for many years. He loved to fish, especially for bass, and was an accomplished carpenter.
Survivors in addition to his wife and children, include two brothers, Jack Dock (Rosemary), and John Dock (Elizabeth), grandchildren Bethany Turner Thurston of Joplin, Bradley Turner (Megan) of Joplin, and Clayton and Kyle Dock of Parsons, KS, two great-grandsons, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Bruce Turner.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Daryl Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Miracle Flights, which provides free airfare for children in need of medical care, or to Ronald McDonald House of Joplin. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
