Vivian M. Peterson, 88, a native of Purdy, MO and longtime resident of Grandview, MO passed away In Norfolk, Virginia on February 6, 2018.
She was the daughter of Robert and Gladys Sexton of Purdy. On March 8, 1951 she married John T. (JT) Peterson of Verona, MO. She was a loving mother and homemaker who loved to garden, read, and crochet. JT was employed by Trans World Airlines in Kansas City. She moved to Virginia to be close to family in June of 2017. They had three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by JT, her husband of 38 years, who passed May7, 1989 and their son, Douglas D. Peterson, who passed April 11, 2011. In addition, she was preceded in death by her brothers George M. Sexton and Bobbie Lee Sexton, sisters, Roberta M. Sexton, Edna E. Akin, Evelyn B. Akin, Hazel Avanell Lamp, Marjorie J. Bowman, and Norma Dee (Tommie) Highbarger.
She is survived by her son, John C. Peterson (wife Sharon) of Chesapeake, VA, their children, Jennifer L. Reilly (husband Gabriel) and their son Noah D. Reilly, Craig T. Peterson, Christopher M. Peterson (wife Brenda) and their daughter Monica Faye Peterson. Also, daughter, Anita G. Praus of Austin, TX (husband Mark) and their children Andrew J. Praus, Kristin M. Praus, and Jordan T. Praus. She is also survived by her sisters, Christine Eden of Monett, MO and Thelma A. Greer (husband Donald) of Fairview, MO.
Visitation will be at the Buchanan Funeral Home, 6-8 PM in Monett, MO on Sunday, February 11 with graveside services at Spring River Cemetery, Verona, MO, 10 AM Monday. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Spring River Cemetery or Goodnight Cemetery in care of Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Avenue, Monett, MO 65708.
