Benjamin Kenneth McGowan Steubing, age 27, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Mercy of Joplin.
Ben was born April 19, 1991 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and grew up in Webb City, Missouri. He graduated from Webb City High School in 2009, and was an honorary member of the Webb City Cardinals Football Team his senior year. He was disabled all of his life, but he still had a positive impact on everyone he met. He was funny, and did not considered himself handicapped, neither did his family and friends. He enjoyed his pets, traveling, and attending concerts, mainly Christian groups like Mandisa, MercyMe, and Toby Mac, among others. He was a former member of Christ's Community United Methodist Church, but enjoyed his time as a greeter at Central United Methodist Church of Webb City.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bradley McGowan, grandparents, Dave McGowan, and Neil and Sue Davis.
Survivors include his parents, Scott and Becky Steubing of Joplin; sister, Catherine Steubing of Joplin; grandparents, Dee McGowan of Claremore, Oklahoma, Bob and Claudia Grey of Joplin; uncles, Bradley Davis and wife Candy of Mansfield, Arkansas, and Todd Holman; aunt, Rebecca Holman of Steele, Missouri.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 10th at 4pm at Christ's Community United Methodist Church of Joplin with Rev. Chris Sloan officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
