Doyle S. Rutherford, 86, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO. Doyle Steven Rutherford was born July 2, 1932 in Carthage, MO to the late Robert Rutherford and Mable Wheeler. He graduated from Carthage High School, Class of 1950.
Doyle married Billie Sue Trout on December 29, 1950 in Carthage, MO; she preceded him in death on September 23, 2004. He worked as a supervisor for F.A.G. Bearing in Joplin, MO. Doyle was a member of the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Sanderson (Larry), Golden City, MO; one brother, Terry Stephenson (Nancy), Williamsburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Chris Lee, James Still, David Scott, Cara Rutherford, Katrina Gourd, Hayley Robinson, and Trista Blackwood; 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; and companion, Lula Hemby, Carthage, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Debra Anderson, one son, Michael Rutherford, one sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Swingle, and one grandson, Eric Rutherford.
Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Monday, August 13, 2018 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held 10 am, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Knell Mortuary. Rev. Ron Franklin will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to Fairview Christian Church, Carthage in care of Knell Mortuary.
