Ruth Carterman

Ruth Ann (James) Carterman, 79, of Diamond, Missouri passed away Thursday evening, July 26, 2018 at Carthage Heath and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth entered this life on May 7, 1939 in Carthage, to the union of the late Justin Carl and Carrie (Green) James. On July 31, 1957 she was united in marriage to James Richard Carterman, together they shared sixty one years. Ruth was a lady of many talents, she was a wonderful homemaker, caretaker for her sister-in-law, Carol June, made pies for Jessie’s truck stop in the 1950’s, tied jigs for Iksix bait for several years, worked for Le-Ru Dairy, was a forklift operator for Leggett & Platt, as well as working on the family farm. She enjoyed playing dice, yahtzee, uno, rummikub, softball and horse shoes, as well as spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cindy Ann Lewis; brother, J.C. James; and sister, Nancy James.

Ruth is survived by her husband, James of the home; daughter, Lynn Whisner of Diamond; grandchildren Tory Velten and husband, Steve, of Sarcoxie, Brandi Garrison, of Carthage, Stacy Fischer, of Aurora, Josh Phillips and wife, Megan, of Carthage, Ashley Edwards and husband, Jeremy, of Lockwood, and Tara Phillips, of Diamond; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, David James and wife, Juanita, of Carthage; sisters, Gloria Thomas and Janice Bastings and husband, Danny, all of Carthage; son-in-law, Donnie Lewis of Reeds; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, MO with Bob Gillespie and Josh Phillips officiating. Those honoring her life by servicing as pallbearers are Josh Phillips, Jeremy Edwards, Jobe Edwards, Steve Velten, Donnie Lewis and Ryan Sparlin.
