Suzanne Hardin

Suzanne Haas Hardin, 86, passed away on March 6, 2018, surrounded by family.

Suzanne was born in Joplin, MO on January 19th, 1932 to Charles Haas and Eunice (Hargrove) Haas, and grew up in Neosho, MO. She attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO and the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. Suzanne graduated with degrees in Speech-Language Pathology and Clinical Audiology in 1952. She spent most of her life working with children and disabled adults in Kansas City, KS.

Suzanne loved sailing, tennis, traveling, gold panning in Colorado, and spending time with her family. She adored children and spent a great deal of time volunteering with and advocating for abused and neglected children. She received the Jefferson Award for Public Service for her work in pioneering Grandparents’ Rights legislation in Kansas and across the country. Suzanne’s grandchildren, Jesse and Sharon Gray, lived with her and her husband, Dr. Creighton Hardin, from the ages of 10 and 7 respectively.

Suzanne was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Dr. Creighton Alvis Hardin, a prominent Vascular Surgeon at KU Medical Center.

Suzanne is survived by her three daughters, Linda Emmons, Karen Stamp-Monnahan, and Janet Shumway; her six grandchildren Jesse Gray, Sharon Gray, Leah Emmons, Ashley Davidson, Colby Shumway, and Jacob Monnahan; and her six greatgrandchildren.

Suzanne will be remembered for her kindness, her curiosity, her love, and her sense of humor. We love you Nana.

Graveside services will be held at the IOOF Cemetery in Neosho, MO on Saturday, October 13th at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions to honor Suzanne may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
